PROFILE of STEVE COWLE

Steve started playing golf at the age of 9, encouraged by both mother and father who were members of Farnham GC in Surrey. It would be here that Steve spent most of his summers honing his game, trying to emulate his hero Seve.

His talent soon shone through winning many junior competitions, the pinnacle of that being the Farnham Junior Open scratch competition, it was then he decided golf would be his life.

After completing his exams, Steve turned pro in early 1994 and spent two years on the PGA Mastercard Tour trying to hone his game through four round events.

At Hockley GC in the Hampshire Open Steve proceeded to smash the course record shooting a 9 under par 62, he followed that up with a 6 under in the afternoon, four shots clear of his nearest rival.

This was the inspiration that Steve needed and with his new found confidence he played the rest of the season like a man on a mission. Wins at the Short Course Championships and the Hampshire Strokeplay only drove him to want more success. Steve had finally tasted victory and to this day that’s all he thinks about on the golf course.

After finishing in the top 50 on the Europro Tour Steve entered the European Tour School on a high. He finished 2nd at both Stage 1 and Stage 2 but narrowly missed out in the finals. Since then Steve has won over 20 events and is still hopeful of competing at the highest level.

Now with a new coach in Russell Covey, Steve believes he can compete on the European Tour. Therefore, Steve needs to raise sponsorship to see him through the next 2 years and he knows he will make it.
Andover Advertiser: Steve Cowle completed a dazzling end-of-season double when he won the Waltham Contractors Hampshire PGA Strokeplay Championship at South Winchester.

Steve's five-shot triumph came just 14 days after his record-breaking success in the Hampshire Open.
Par 4 The Course: It’s a testament to the quality of the facilities at Hockley Golf Club in Hampshire, that it has become a popular venue for major county events. Professional Steve Cowle created a sensation when he shot a nine under par 62 for a new course record to win the Hampshire Open.
RTE.ie: England's Steven Cowle today qualified in second place behind Italy's Francesco Guermani for the final of the European Tour school. Guermani topped the stage two standings at the PGA Golf de Catalunya in north-east Spain by carding a final-round four-under-par 68 to win by four shots from Cowle and his fellow Italian Alberto Binaghi.
